Hot topic of the day, not only on the blogosphere but also around the WSU campus was the “we suck” prank put on by Kyle Garchar, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School (Columbus, OH). Before I comment, you might as well watch the video so you are up to speed. Already seen the video? Great skip on down…

So on sites like Deadspin, the commenters and bloggers seem to be taking the, “way to go Kyle” approach to this prank. But what if this was a blog post or story they had ripped off of Deadspin and not a copy of a Yale prank from 2004? My sentiments say that bloggers - not necessarily Deadspin, although I think they would as well - would be quite pissed off about the copycat mentality… extremely pissed off. So I refuse to honor Mr. Garchar’s blatant ripoff. Although Drinking Time the Movie was hilarious; Drinking Time II and Drinking Time III would water down the fun and my buzz; let’s try to keep our elaborate YouTube pranks original, shall we? Thanks.

Here’s the kicker though, something not necessarily being mentioned, that completely changes the story: Kyle’s school lost the game 10-21 to their rival Darby. So now, thanks to Kyle, his team lost to another team who, by their own admission, suck. If my math is correct, this would make Hilliard Davidson High School - Kyle’s school - the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. Sorry Kyle, but this is America, where we only celebrate winners. Don’t like that? Well, I don’t make the rules… write your Senator or something.

So congratulations Darby, who may not have the prank video online, but they do have that ever-important tally in the win column.
