This guy either does not understand the concept of metaphors, or he just really, really wanted to start of his tenure as coach with a bold statement.
Catania coach Silvio Baldini will be fined by his club after kicking Parma boss Domenico Di Carlo in the backside during Sunday’s 2-2 Serie A draw.
Baldini, in his first game in charge of the team, gave Di Carlo the boot during a touchline row and was sent to the stands by the referee.
This is absolutely terrific. I have to love any opportunity to point out the fact that no matter how screwed up our professional sports/ athletes are, people tend not to die in and outside the games here in the U.S. That being said, I have a newfound appreciation for soccer coaches… well, at least for Mr. Baldini.
“I apologize to the president, the players and to the city especially after what happened on February 2,” [Baldini] said. “I say sorry to the fans of Parma. I am not apologizing to him because he deserved it, he provoked me.”
That’s called one upsmanship Mr. Bobby Cox and Mr. Lou Pinella. Apparently you haven’t really managed unless you’ve kicked your opposing manager/ coach in the ass.
Above all, you have to love this guy’s competitiveness, and the fact that he at least had the restraint not to headbutt someone.
