A Thinly Veiled Excuse To Use The Word “Grewcock”

June 11th, 2007 · 2 Comments

grewcock1.jpgDanny Grewcock unfortunately has the most humorous name in all of professional sports in my opinion. The 6′5″, 260 pound second row, who is also a black belt, is understandably one of the angriest men in rugby. I am sure I’m not the first to find humor in his family name, who I can only assume were once chicken farmers or something like that.

So its no wonder that he tends to get a little carried away; this time punching Clermont Auvergne’s Thibault Privat in a match, earning Danny his second suspension in 2007 which will make his chances of making England’s World Cup team slim, and his chances of playing well even slimmer. Just another dent in England’s chances to repeat as World Champs; although they are still a lock to demoralize the USA Eagles in the opening game of the Cup… nothing could change that, even if they had to play 15 reserves in the game.

Oh yea, and “Grewcock”… had to get it in there again, sorry, but I have the personality and humor of an 8-year old.

[…] For those of you who read my site with some regularly might remember when I poked a bit of fun at England’s lock and one helluva rugby player Danny Grewcock; immature? Yes, of course. But if you have read this site more than once and expect anything more than the maturity level of an 8 year old you’re not really getting me at all. So in that light, and in all fairness to Danny and his last name, its only fair that I continue this - potentially even starting up a new series for the site? - and make a few jabs at New Zealand prop Tony Woodcock. […] I’ve told you about ruggers Danny Grewcock (England) and Tony Woodcock (New Zealand); ruggers with humorous surnames that, to be honest, probably made them legends in school and probably contributed to the fact that they did end up playing a “violent” sport. […]
