Luck Be A Buckeye Tonight

brutus.jpgIts good to have talent. Its good to win games. Its great to be lucky.

Based on a report filed earlier today, I’d have to argue that Ohio State University finally got luck on their side: de-Fault - “the two sweetest words in the English language.”

It might be the biggest come-from-behind win in Jim O’Brien’s coaching career. The NCAA reversed itself Friday and threw out three violations and part of a fourth that occurred under the former Ohio State men’s basketball coach because the association’s enforcement staff missed a deadline for filing the charges.

“Whether they want to call it a technicality or a loophole or anything else, it’s clear now that it wasn’t a violation and the university could not and has not suffered any harm as a result of that contact — other than that which they chose to impose upon themselves”

Okay, no. That does not mean that no violation occurred… it just means that they can’t be punished for it. Let’s think about this for a minute. If circumstances had been different, and Maurice Clarett’s car had been searched illegally, he would still be in jail - come on, that idiot would have found his way into jail some way or another - but Clarett would have been let off for that specific charge; but it’s not like the guns, hatchet, and lint roller suddenly disappear in the crime scene photos. This is not Back to the Future, tOSU still f***ed up big time, Jim O’Brien is still a scoundrel, and the Buckeye nation finally gets to celebrate a victory… but only because Florida wasn’t involved in any way though.
