This topic has been well covered on the blogoshpere, but I wanted to lend my support to express how shady Colin Cowherd’s actions were in shutting down a fellow blogger and likely costing them some cash as well:
“We occasionally, once a week…we’ll mention a website, our listeners will flee to it, and we’ll shut it down. We feel bad about this, we don’t mean to do it. It usually forces that young guy or young gal to buy more bandwidth and can be expensive. I don’t know that…but wouldn’t it be great if every day we gave out a new, young website and blew it up? If I told my audience every day–just one that’s annoying–and we could give it to them, and our audience would blow it up? I want everyone to go to it as fast as you possibly can. When I say go, go….it’s three words. THE BIG LEAD dot com. THE. BIG. LEAD. DOT. COM. Go now.”
Overall, it is incredibly inappropriate and an abuse of his position on the air to use it for personal attacks. I expect that kind of crap from Bill O’Reily, but not sports radio hosts. Too bad ESPN hates blogs as well, otherwise I’d say his job would be on the line, but considering how wide and large the blogger network runs I really don’t think he comes out of this one in the same shape as he went in.

[Update: I really doubt any of this form email makes its way directly to Colin himself, but if you are just as disturbed about this as I am and want to let someone at ESPN know, here is the form email for the show]
