zamboni.jpgIt’s been made official, so for all of you out there who were holding back like me, just go buck wild. The reasoning for this: a judge in Morristown, New Jersey ruled recently, that there’s no such thing as a DWI when you’re driving a Zamboni.

A judge ruled the four-ton ice rink-grooming machines aren’t motor vehicles because they aren’t usable on highways and can’t carry passengers.

Zamboni operator John Peragallo had been charged with drunken driving in 2005 after a fellow employee at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown told police the machine was speeding and nearly crashed into the boards.

It seems that the dependent in the case blew a .12 BAC when the legal limit is .08… and admitted to having a few cocktails… but he says that he only had one shot of Sambuca and two valium with his breakfast (incidentally, not the breakfast of champions), and that the beer and vodka followed the Zamboni incident. So like I said, for all of you who ever wondered, “hey, I wonder what it’s like driving a Zamboni under the influence?” Wonder no more… but just to be safe I’d stick to New Jersey for now… and next time you are at the ice rink, see if you can guess what the driver’s been putting down in the back room by how many times he hits the boards.
