The Presedential Election Of College Hoops

April 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

flahoops.jpgTonight I felt like I was watching the poll results come in from any presidential election in recent memory where it was Republican candidate I didn’t like running opposite Democratic candidate I didn’t like. On one hand, I grew up a Michigan fan, and from everything I have read, seen and experienced, tOSU fans seem like some of the worst fans in the nation. Plus they are essentially renting the best player in college hoops, and it’s not entirely their fault, but its like signing Peyton Manning for just one season to make a run, and that’s really not what college athletics is supposed to be about.

On the other hand, there was Florida, who I should have been rooting for because they did something that I totally respected: stayed in college to try for another title. But I really don’t like Gator fans either all that much, can not stand the way Urban Meyer recruits -I know…that’s football, but in college when you hate a school’s football program you hate the school in general. It may not be fair but it’s the way it works - and every time Noah opens his mouth and words come out I feel like punching a baby. So Florida was out.

So as sad as it might be, I watched the game with absolutely no care about who won the game.. because either was going to result in a small amount of my dinner coming back up on me… but I do have to say that when you consider the way Oden conducts himself compared to Noah… it makes me feel a little better inside when I think about how much better Oden is going to do in the NBA.

So I guess congrats to the Florida Gators… and at least it’s not four years until the next time around - when I can hope for at least one team to root for.
