Honestly, I’ve had this date circled for months on my calendar, and its opening day, with the New York Mets playing the St. Louis Cardinals tonight… or are they?
How messed up would it be though, if everyone tuned in and showed up to the game but neither team showed up and it was just an elaborate April Fools Prank and some mascots took the field and played a game? I thought of throwing up a nice April Fools post, saying I was shut down by the FCC or something, but if one of the four people who actually read this site believed it I would lose 25% of my readership… so I opted against.
i was also kind of hoping that it was an early prank that the college finals was going to involve the same two teams as did the football title game… it’s a dream come true for the announces because they get to use that fact over and over like no one was previously aware. I think I’ll be watching on mute.
Meanwhile, in Europe, I am sure they think this is a hoax as well: an amateur golfer, Oklahoma State’s own Spaniard Pablo Martin-Benavides became the only player in European tour history to win a tour title. He has to pass up 141,157 euro since he does not want to go pro just yet. I have an idea: give me the money and I’ll promise to write about the European tour every freakin day.
And in the final news of the day which I initially attributed to a hoax: Ricky Williams wants to play in the NFL next year which means a fact that is truly stranger than fiction… Ricky Williams is not rocking the gange.
