People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it’s a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh… people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
Yes, Ray… they will come.. but they won’t be watching on TV. Well, that is unless they have Direct TV or are smart enough to get it online. I find one thing very interesting, and that is our politician’s constant involvement with baseball. This post was inspired by reading an article about Dem. John Kerry’s remarks on MLB’s exclusive deal with Direct TV, and I find it interesting he “called for the hearing on behalf of Red Sox fans who live outside New England”. Great, our country’s elected officials are now at the command of Sox fans. No, nothing bad could possibly come of that…. April 27th is now national Manny day? Really?
“When you’ve got 75 million people who currently have the option of doing something and you reduce it to 15 million, you’ve got to ask are the terms of this deal fair and does it work for the fan and for the sport itself?” [Kerry] said during a conference call Monday.
Yes, true. And nothing illegal, but please don’t be confused then when I say that Bud Selig and MLB hates me… well, hates all fans, because their decisions are always centered around total profit, and yet my ticket prices don’t seem to be declining any. And its pretty sad that baseball is really the only sport that our politicians feel the need to regulate. The NFL has had more arrests than the Compton Crypts last year, and yet they get to self police… just another sign that Selig needs to go.
