Good lord, I know I am biased, but I really felt like the poor shot selection late in the second half, first overtime, and second overtime pretty much handed the Commodores the victory yesterday. The Cougs certainly did “Coug it” this time around, because I thought they were the better team, but they seemed to panic when Vandy kept hitting threes, and tried to turn into a three point team themselves… which did not work to their favor. I will give Vandy credit for stepping up their game when it counted, but WSU just really did not seem to be aggressive enough when it counted, and at one point they seemed to be passing around the ball like the neighborhood tramp… not because they wanted to share, but because it seemed like no one wanted to take the shot unless they had to. That is the one thing that really stood out: the lack of a leader who takes it upon themselves to make something happen.

Its really a shame because they were more than capable of winning that game, and should have won the game, but I think the excitement kind of got to them and took them off their game plan… because no one even seemed to target Vandy’s two stars in foul trouble, and that is really a coaching error. But all in all, loss or not, the Cougars had a dream season, and it was fun to be there at WSU to see it all happen, and hopefully WSU, the alumni, and the boosters can open their pocketbooks to pay coach Bennett what he deserves and lock him up for a few more years.
