And its not Ken Griffey’s grotesquely swollen jaw that has people talking.

The paperback edition of Game of Shadows just makes me sicker and sicker that 1) Barry Bonds will be the new homerun king and that 2) Giants fans seem to be somehow okay with the obvious fact that he cheated to get there. Its one thing to pretend that creams and rubs were applied unbeknown that they were ‘roids, but its a totally different story to explain HGH, and that Barry did not find it odd at all that Bonds grew more than I did during middle school:

The authors detail in their afterword the freakish growth of Bonds’ body parts in his years with the Giants: from size 42 to a size 52 jersey; from size 10 1/2 to size 13 cleats; and from a size 7 1/8 to size 7 1/4 cap, even though he had taken to shaving his head.

“The changes in his foot and head size,” they write, “were of special interest: medical experts said overuse of human growth hormone could cause an adult’s extremities to begin growing, aping the symptoms of the glandular disorder acromegaly.”

I have no idea what that last sentence means, but I think the point is clear… and of course Bonds just taunted the grand jury and government to ask him anything. Too bad for Barry a bigger head apparantly does not mean a bigger brain.
