When that punter from Northern Colorado stabbed his teammate to become the starter, I knew it was a bit much, but at least I understood that. If you are going to attack a teammate, it should probably be over PT.
But Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy was not interested in playing time, no, he took a golf club to his teammates’ legs over a karaoke competition. Now, its not like I couldn’t see this happening in an NBA rap battle between teammates, but karaoke just does not seem to have that edge that says golf club to the knee.
Then again, this is no ordinary soccer player, Bellamy has quite the track record:
“When he played for Newcastle in 2004, Bellamy threw a chair at assistant manager John Carver. He was then heavily fined for calling manager Graeme Souness a liar in 2005. Bellamy has also spent some time in court. In 2003, he was charged with three racism offenses after a night out in Cardiff, Wales. He admitted to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior and was fined $1,252…late last year, Bellamy was cleared of assaulting two women in a nightclub.”
I bet he got cleared of the last one because he clearly demonstrated his vocal ability by singing “Free Bird” for the judge. Now, on the other hand, I could be missing something, and maybe Bellamy has invented a new sport, where bad karaoke singing is punished with the ol’ nine iron.
