They Are Not Helping Me This Weekend

January 19th, 2007 · No Comments

This weekend’s picks are going to be tough. The odds are pretty much set so I’ve got to pick a winner… I can’t just call for the underdog to beat the spread anymore. So this should make or break my playoff record (which currently stands at a respectable 5-3).

New Orleans at Chicago (CHI -2.5)

The last time these two teams met was in 2005, not really a good barometer to judge how this game might play out. Sexy Rexy is really the main question in this game. The sex cannon plays better at home, and when he plays well, he is one of the best QBs in the league. Only problem is that when Grossman isn’t on his game, he is is downright awful. On the other hand we have the Aint’s, who have pulled out a miracle season thanks in part to the Houston Texans playing ball with the NFL front office and passing on Reggie Bush. New Orleans plays better on the road, but the Saints have lost to almost every team with a solid defense they have faced… and this is not a Disney movie so I say the Bears win, and by more than 2.5 [Right again! 6-3 for the playoffs].

New England at Indianapolis (IND -3)

You will hear enough about this rematch. Colts win!… by more than 3 [Oh hell yes.  Colts by 4, which just last week I learned in my advanced college math class is greater than 3.  7-3.  Even if I blow the Super Bowl I’ll still be well over .500].
