Good news Cubs fans, in case you were wondering who would be the next young pitcher to have his career completely destroyed by mis-management, your wait is over: meet Jeff Samardzija. The former Notre Dame receiver decided to quit a promising football career to play professional baseball, just like Drew Henson and Chris Weinke.
My favorite part of the article is about the injury risk of the two sports:
Samardzija said longevity and the chance of injury were not major factors in his decision to go with baseball over football
Obviously this AP reporter is not familiar with Kerry Wood and Mark Prior… Jeff might actually be safer playing in the NFL.

Hey im a die hard notre dame fan… I play football myself for my high school im a defensive tackle i hope to one day be a linebacker i just need to get a bit quicker… How was Jeffs career destroyed????? cuss i didnt hear anything about it……. I knew he chose Baseball over football but i didnt hear anything bout his career being screwed up… one thing i did hear about was what happened to Brady Quinn who i might add is my ideal football player… If u could could u please send me an email describing why they choose to draft Brady Quinn in the 21st or way is the 22nd draft pick… I cant stand it it happened a long time ago i know but i didnt really get why he wasnt drafted 1st or 2nd or even at minimum 3rd hes a star player and i know that he could have helped out anyteam exponencially and also now that he was finally drafted onto the Browns late late why isnt he a starter is it because he held out for to long on his contract? Cuss i know he is better than that stupied lil QB from OSU I know this because i live in Oregon and i have watched almost every single DUCKS game (GO DUCKS) and beavers game and u can trust me on this i have seen every single NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH Game and i see no reason why they dont have brady starting… I know i dont know much about football but one thing i do know is that brady quinn could take on that Alexander dude any day… I know im suppose to have a certain enjoyment that a QB from my state is starting for a professional team but u know wah screw alexander…. My dad wasnt there to see the draft and hasnt really been following brady quinn around so he really didnt have many answers for me so i really am hoping tha tu give me a reason why a start heisman trophy contender was drafted so late in the draft if u could send me a email explaining why that would be much appreciated… thanks

tell me why they still have Jimmy Hausen as starting QB he hasnt been doing anything for this notre dame team and neither has the defense…. IM inraged

hey mark i agree I think Jeffs career is just beginning and he is going to be one to remember thru the years i too followed him from notre dame go irish
