Dear God, Judy, Just Get The Trade Done Already So We Can Get On With Our Lives

January 13th, 2007 · No Comments

note_the_days_of_our_lives_.jpgThis potential trade has been on the table for probably a good month now and personally I can’t stand this crap anymore… if I wanted sports to be more like daytime television I’d be a Cowboys fan, but I’m not.

The trade in question is between the A’s and the Mets, and thanks to the book Moneyball I am sure that every Billy Beane trade negotiation turns GM’s on their heads wondering why Billy is asking for that player… “he must know something that I don’t.” So currently the two sides are negotiating a deal where the Mets will send over uber-prospect Lastings Milledge, starter turned reliever Aaron Heilman (who had pretty good peripheral numbers last year, with a 1.16 WHIP being the most notable), and a prospect to be named later. The A’s will be sending some combination of Danny Haren/ Joe Blanton/ and one ore more minor leaguers (Michael Devaney/ Santiago Castilla/ or none).

The current holdup is over the whole Dan Haren/ Joe Blanton part. The A’s (and I’m with Billy on this one) would much, much rather ship out Blanton instead of Haren, but it seems that the Mets must insist that Danny is the one they get. Since Billy Beane has had a giant man-crush on Milledge for quite some time now, and considering how long they have been negotiating, I really think that in some way, shape or form this deal will get done… so get it over already! We’ve only got like two months until we can start drafting for the 2007 fantasy season and I’ve got to get my game plan set for draft day.

Oh yea, and it’d be nice to know what the real ‘07 A’s are going to look like too.
