Let’s Face It, Computers HATE The Buckeyes

November 12th, 2006 · No Comments

bcs.jpgAnd I can’t necessarily blame them; anything with intelligence tends to take a stance against tOSU.

Previously, the computer rankings that make up one-third of the BCS rankings had Meeechigan as the top team in the nation, placed directly before the Buckeyes in the rankings. But now the computers are throwing the insult of all insults the way of Columbus: tOSU has now been replaced as the 2nd ranked team in the computer poll by none other than the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers.

Yep, that’s right. Rutgers. Let that marinate for a bit.

While you are letting that soak in, I went ahead and put together a list of the remaining games that will decide the final standings:

Rutgers vs West Virginia (12/2) - Rutgers can’t possibly end up in the title game.. can they? They will have to beat a tough West Virginia squad to find out

SEC Championship (12/2) - What is known is that this game will feature the Florida Gators and Arkansas Razorbacks. What is not clear is how those teams will finish their regular seasons. If both teams run the table, a strong argument can be made that the winner of this game will be playing for all the marbles. A loss by either team before that time could really hurt their opponent’s strength of schedule

USC vs Notre Dame (11/25) - IF the Trojans get past the Golden Bears (and that is an IF), it might come down to the wire between the winner of this game and the SEC Champ

Michigan vs Ohio State (11/18) - The winner goes on as the #1 team and gets to collect $200 as they pass Go. The loser is by no means out of the picture, unless this winds up being a blowout.

This season is going to come down to the wire, and thank goodness because that is what makes it great to be a fan. Between now and the end of the season, 4 of the top 8 teams are guaranteed to lose a game, and it is very possible for 6 of the top 8 to lose at least one game (or one more).
