Ted Stevens (R, Alaska) is mad because his email takes too long. His answer? Tier the internet so that e-commerce and communications companies have a higher priority over the internet’s bandwith than you or I. Apparantly this website is just “clogging tubes” and makes his email slow down.
What he does not realize is that he does not have one iota of understanding of how the internet, internet protocols, and software that utilize the net all work and mesh together, and that his connection speed has about as much to do with me as I have to do with the Communist state of Cuba.
savetheinternet.com has posted a Senate map so that you can see where your senator stands on Net Neutrality (basically that everyone is equal and entitled to the same share of the internet). I would equate this bill to one saying that major companies and cell phone carriers have permission to bump your and my calls for those of “higher importance,” aka campaign contributors.
