Thinking: Not A Requirement For The Modern-Day Student Athlete

May 30th, 2006 · No Comments

Student Athlete Usually Infers Educated Or Smart, Not HereI have ripped on dumb moves by atheles a lot in the young history of my page, so I have tried to avoid the subject, but this was too much fun to pass by. This morning in the Seattle Times, Bud Withers compiled a list of the top ten, strangest… or dumbest… moves ever pulled.

If you have time, read through the list, guys have punched police horses and kidnapped sheep while drunk. You would think that the schools would make a little more effort in keeping these guys out of trouble.

It was funny though that one of my favorites (partly because it’s just so dumb, and also because he played at my old high school’s big rival) is also the number one on the list:

1. He went after another sack

Dion Rayford, a defensive end at Kansas, made a late-night stop at a Lawrence Taco Bell in 1999. Employees said Rayford became upset and tried to crawl into the drive-through window after alleging servers omitted a chalupa from his order.

In a plea deal, Rayford agreed to pay damage costs. A small price to pay for immortality.

What they don’t say is that he got stuck in the drive through window, I think that makes it about ten times funnier. Probably did not really need that last chalupa anyway.
