The owners of Fort Montgomery on Lake Champlain, NY are putting the beauty up for sale on eBay. It’s kind of a shame. They describe it as “a rare and historic property,” yet continue to recommend that it be used to build luxury homes or other development ideas that suit the buyer. Kind of sad.

But the real scare here that is harder to decipher is that the fort lies on our northern border, and might be a key asset to any future full-scale Canadian invasion. I can only hope that is kept in the right hands. It would also be nice to actually keep something historic in this country. Europe has history. They have castles and buildings that are many hundreds of years old. They see forts and castles and they see history. We see a strip mall begging to be built.
